Landscape assessment

Landscape assessment is a central part of Littoralis’ area of practice and many of the projects featured under the various other categories on this website include a component of formal assessment. Indeed it can be said that every project has an element of assessment, since we always consider the “effects” of any design or management undertaking.

Our background includes landscape assessment from a region, district or neighbourhood suburb-wide basis through to more project-related scrutiny of such activities as subdivision development, coastal modification, quarrying, rail and road corridors or urban modification. We also carry out assessments of more discrete activities, such as new houses in sensitive locations. It is largely through this area of our work that we’ve built an extensive experience as expert witness in Council hearings and the Environment Court. Our landscape assessment standing has also seen us assisting Councils with developing provisions in their Plans and preparing best practice guidelines to assist. applicants.
